Tod’Aérs Board Member Dr. Amina Boubendir participated in the Defense Communications Forum, joining a high-level panel titled “From Ground to Space: Seamless Integration of 5G-NTN.”
The panel focused on the growing importance of integrating terrestrial 5G networks with Non-Terrestrial Networks [NTN], including satellite and airborne platforms, to support seamless, secure, and resilient end-to-end connectivity for defense and multi-domain operations.
Discussions explored key technical and operational challenges related to 5G-satellite integration, including low-latency and high-throughput communications, handover management, 3GPP-based architectures, Rel-18 and Rel-19 standards, multi-domain coverage across air, land and sea, and lifecycle management for complex defense communication systems.
The session also addressed critical security and resilience issues, including risks associated with NTN, quantum-safe communications, interference mitigation, sovereign space connectivity, MILSATCOM, GOVSATCOM, and the future role of 5G and 6G in defense communications.
Dr. Amina Boubendir joined fellow panelists from the U.S. Army, NATO, Viasat’s Mobile Satellite Services Association, and the Satellite Industry Association, contributing her expertise as Head of Research and Standardisation at Airbus Defence and Space.
As a Board Member of Tod’Aérs Global Network [TGN] for Space and Telecoms in Europe, Dr. Amina Boubendir brings strong expertise in standardization, research, satellite systems, telecommunications, secure connectivity, and advanced space-based infrastructure. Her participation in the Defense Communications Forum reflects TGN’s commitment to supporting strategic dialogue on space, telecoms, security, and next-generation connectivity.
Through this engagement, Tod’Aérs Global Network [TGN] reaffirmed its dedication to advancing innovation, resilient digital infrastructure, and international cooperation at the intersection of space, defense, telecommunications, and emerging technologies.
