Tod’Aérs Co-Hosted a Community Event at the 21st GEO Symposium in Geneva

Updated: Jul 3

Tod’Aérs Global Network [TGN] was represented in Geneva, Switzerland, during the 21st Symposium of the Intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations [GEO], held at the Headquarters of the United Nations World Meteorological Organization [WMO].

During this high-level international gathering, TGN co-hosted a Community Event alongside key partners including Esri, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction [UNDRR], the World Meteorological Organization [WMO], the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development [RCMRD], and other leading institutions.

The session focused on disaster preparedness, emergency response, and the transition from globally driven frameworks to locally owned and sustainable disaster response systems. It brought together experts from international organizations, government institutions, the private sector, academia, research networks, and regional partners to examine how Earth observation data can be transformed into actionable intelligence for disaster risk reduction and resilience.

Through this Community Event, TGN and its partners contributed to a strategic dialogue on how global expertise, regional cooperation, and local experience can be combined to strengthen disaster preparedness and response. The discussion highlighted the role of Earth intelligence, geospatial technologies, early warning systems, drones, GIS tools, and multi-source data in supporting communities exposed to climate and disaster risks.

The event also showcased practical case studies and partnership models demonstrating how Earth observation can support locally driven solutions, including multi-hazard early warning systems, disaster relief models, and geohazard resilience initiatives.

TGN’s role as co-host reflected its growing engagement in Earth intelligence, disaster risk reduction, geospatial innovation, climate resilience, and sustainable development. It also highlighted the network’s commitment to building partnerships that connect data, technology, policy, and local implementation to create practical and scalable solutions across Africa and beyond.

Through its presence in Geneva, Tod’Aérs Global Network reaffirmed its commitment to supporting international cooperation, locally owned innovation, and data-driven approaches to disaster preparedness and response.
