Cape Verdean State Secretary His Excellency Mr. Pedro Lopes joins the Governing Board of Tod'Aérs


Cape Verdean State Secretary His Excellency Mr. Pedro Lopes (Cape Verde) joins the Governing Board of Tod’Aérs Global Network [TGN]. His Excellency Mr. Pedro Lopes is the current Secretary of State for Digital Economy of the Government of the Republic of Cape Verde, where he revolutionized Cape Verde's digital sector and was responsible for the launch of the Cabo Verde Digital, a platform of the Government of Cabo Verde, to strengthen the ICT communities and support the creation of the digital transformation and innovation ecosystem through training and technological entrepreneurship.


Prior to that, His Excellency Mr. Pedro Lopes previously served as the Secretary of State for Innovation and Vocational Training (TVET) within the Government of the Republic of Cape Verde from 2018 to 2021. At the time of the appointment (2018), he was Cabo Verde's youngest Government Member and he conceived the Cape Verde Prime Minister's Youth Council. He was awarded the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders by the United States Department of State and he was part of the Obama Foundation's Young Leaders in 2018.


His Excellency Mr. Pedro Lopes is a Council Member of the World Economic Forum's Global Future Councils. He was recognized as "Most Influential People of Africa Descent Global 100 under 40 in Politics and Governance" by MIPAD and as "100 Future Leaders: The World’s Most Influential Young People in Government" by Apolitical. He was also nominated for the Award "Personality of the Year 2018" Issued by journal Público and for the "Politician of the Year Award" by One Young World.


His Excellency Mr. Pedro Lopes has a degree in International Relations (University of Coimbra, Portugal), and a Master in Conflict Resolution (University of Bradford, UK). He was President of the International Relations Students' Union of the University of Coimbra (NERIFE) and he organized Cabo Verde's inaugural TEDx event. He also served as an Elected Member of the Regional Advisory Board for Young African Leaders of West Africa, an organization serving as the liaison between the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Young African leaders.


His Excellency Mr. Pedro Lopes will be supporting with oversight and guidance for the implementation of the network's global strategic goals in Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP) and in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) across Africa and the Caribbean; further enhancing the network's capabilities in shaping the future of global governance, technological innovation, global sustainable development and socio-economic progress.
