Tod’Aérs Board Member His Excellency Pedro Lopes represented Cabo Verde at the Horasis Global Summit 2025, held at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, under the theme “Harnessing the Power of Cooperation.”
Known as a major global platform for dialogue and cooperation, the Horasis Global Summit brought together leaders from more than 80 countries, including government officials, ministers, governors, CEOs, academics, entrepreneurs, and international stakeholders. The event provided a strategic space to discuss global transformation, technological cooperation, investment, and the future of economic development.
During the Summit, H.E. Pedro Lopes contributed to discussions on artificial intelligence, the digital economy, youth empowerment, and the future of work in the Global South. His intervention highlighted Cabo Verde’s ambition to position itself as a Digital Nation in progress, supported by its Digital Economy Strategy and its growing focus on inclusion, innovation, talent development, and investment attraction.
A key theme of his intervention was “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Work in the Global South.” In his remarks, H.E. Pedro Lopes emphasized how technology can help reduce inequalities, create shared prosperity, and prepare young Africans for the jobs and leadership opportunities of the future.
He also highlighted the importance of Generation Z, known in Cabo Verde as the “Minis de 2000,” stressing that young people must be listened to and included in political, business, and civic leadership. His message reflected a strong belief in the capacity of young people to transform societies and shape the future of Africa and the Global South.
Beyond the Summit, H.E. Pedro Lopes’ mission in Brazil included visits to innovation hubs and meetings with strategic partners in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, strengthening cooperation between Cabo Verde and Brazil in the field of digital technology.
