Tod’Aérs Board Member His Excellency Professor Igor Lukšić participated in the 29th High-Level Meeting of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, held under the theme “Pathway to COP29: Sustainable and Resilient Future.”
Organized in Azerbaijan as part of the preparations for COP29, the high-level meeting brought together former heads of state and government, international leaders, policymakers, climate experts, and representatives of global institutions to discuss the major challenges shaping the international climate agenda.
The discussions focused on the urgent need to accelerate climate action, strengthen resilience, mobilize climate finance, and promote inclusive dialogue ahead of COP29. Participants exchanged views on adaptation, mitigation, sustainable development, food security, biodiversity, innovation, and the role of international cooperation in addressing the climate crisis.
H.E. Prof. Igor Lukšić’s participation reflected his longstanding engagement in global policy dialogue, economic governance, sustainable development, and multilateral cooperation. As a former Prime Minister of Montenegro and former Minister of Finance, he brought valuable experience to discussions on how countries can align development priorities with climate resilience and long-term sustainability.
The meeting also provided an important platform for strategic exchanges on the future of climate diplomacy. In the lead-up to COP29, such discussions contributed to building shared understanding around the need for transparent, inclusive, and result-oriented climate negotiations.
